HubSpot released another substantial round of updates in August. The headline theme was AI, but the more important shift is what that AI can now do: work with live CRM context, support day-to-day decisions and, in some cases, take action inside HubSpot.
There were also meaningful improvements to data quality, reporting, automation and customer service. These may attract fewer headlines, but they could remove real operational friction for teams that use them well.
Here are the ten August updates we believe deserve your attention.
The HubSpot connector for Claude has moved beyond read-only analysis. Claude can now create and update CRM records, log activities, create tasks and work with marketing assets using the context held in HubSpot.
Users can ask questions across contacts, companies, deals, tickets and engagement history, then take supported actions without leaving the conversation. HubSpot records connector activity in the audit log, while existing user permissions continue to govern what each person can access.
This is a significant step from AI as an information tool towards AI as part of a working process. A sales rep could review an opportunity, summarise recent communication, update the deal and create the next task from one conversation. A marketer could analyse campaign performance and use the findings to shape or create new content.
The value is not simply that Claude can complete more actions. It is the reduction in switching between tools and manually translating insight into activity.
A sales manager could ask Claude to identify deals due to close this month with no recent activity, review the engagement history and create follow-up tasks for the relevant owners. Start with limited permissions and approval required for write actions, then expand its use once the process has been tested.
Available across HubSpot products and plans, subject to an active paid Claude subscription and the relevant HubSpot permissions. View HubSpot's connector guidance.
HubSpot has expanded the data available through its ChatGPT connector. Alongside CRM records, users can now work with wider HubSpot context including campaigns, blog posts, landing pages, users and teams.
This means ChatGPT can answer broader questions about marketing performance, content and organisational context using information from the connected HubSpot account.
Many teams already use ChatGPT to plan campaigns, interpret information and develop content. Giving it access to relevant HubSpot context removes some of the manual work involved in exporting data, copying results between systems and explaining the background every time.
However, access alone does not guarantee useful answers. The quality of the CRM data, the question being asked and the team's permissions still determine the quality and scope of the response.
A marketing lead could ask which recent campaigns generated the strongest engagement, compare their landing pages and use those findings to brief the next campaign. That creates a quicker route from performance data to a practical decision without treating AI output as a substitute for human judgement.
Connector access and supported data vary by HubSpot subscription, ChatGPT plan and user permissions. View HubSpot's ChatGPT connector guidance.
HubSpot now lets marketers turn open and click tracking off for an individual marketing email without changing the account-wide setting.
The control sits within the email editor and must be selected before the email is sent or published. Tracking can only be overridden when it is already enabled at account level and the relevant source-tracking setting is active.
Different emails can have different privacy, testing and reporting requirements. Previously, changing tracking behaviour could mean altering the global settings and affecting every email sent from the portal.
Per-email control gives teams more flexibility without weakening the wider reporting setup. It can also prevent internal or test sends from adding unnecessary engagement data to campaign analysis.
A marketer preparing an internal announcement or privacy-sensitive communication can switch tracking off for that send while leaving it active for the campaigns where engagement measurement is required.
Available across HubSpot products and plans, subject to the required email and account settings. View HubSpot's email tracking guidance.
New merge rules in Data Quality give administrators greater control over which record becomes the primary record when duplicates are combined.
You can create a sequence of up to five criteria based on factors such as property conditions, the number of associated records, activity levels or property completion. HubSpot checks each condition in order before applying a final tiebreaker.
Duplicate records do more than make the CRM untidy. They can divide engagement history, distort reporting, disrupt personalisation and leave teams unsure which information they can trust.
Consistent merge rules allow businesses to decide what a valuable or authoritative record looks like, then apply that logic more reliably. This reduces manual judgement and helps protect the data needed for reporting, automation and AI.
A business could prioritise records with a corporate email address, followed by the greatest number of logged activities and then the highest property fill rate. When duplicates are reviewed, the record carrying the strongest commercial history is more likely to be retained.
Public beta for Data Hub Professional and Enterprise. Merged records cannot be reverted, so rules and sample records should be reviewed carefully before bulk use. Learn about duplicate merge criteria.
HubSpot has improved the property history shown on CRM records and added a direct route for Super Admins to restore supported changes made through the CRM interface, imports or workflows.
From the property history, an administrator can identify the source of a change, open a restore preview and review the affected records before confirming the action.
A poorly configured workflow or incorrect import can change thousands of property values in moments. Until now, diagnosing the source and recreating the affected criteria could make recovery slow and uncertain.
This update shortens the path from identifying a problem to correcting it. It gives administrators a more practical safety net and reduces the operational risk attached to large-scale CRM changes.
If an import accidentally overwrites customer type across a segment of companies, a Super Admin can trace that change from the record history, review the wider impact and restore supported values from the same source.
Available across HubSpot products and plans for supported changes; restoration requires Super Admin permissions.
HubSpot now gives users more control over the calendar information colleagues can see when booking meetings on their behalf.
Users can decide whether external calendar events appear only as busy time or whether their full details are visible. Private events continue to hide their details regardless of the wider setting.
Delegated meeting booking can become difficult when the person arranging the meeting has no context beyond a blocked calendar slot. They may avoid a viable time, create unnecessary back-and-forth or book something that clashes with an important commitment.
This update gives teams a better balance between useful context and individual privacy. It is particularly relevant for sales and service teams where assistants, managers or coordinators regularly book meetings for other users.
An executive assistant could see enough information to understand that a diary entry is movable, rather than treating every external event as an immovable commitment. The user still controls how much detail is shared, and private events remain protected.

7. Filter CRM Records from Column Headers
HubSpot users can now filter CRM index pages directly from a column header. Instead of opening the wider filtering panel and locating the relevant property, users can open a column's menu and select Filter by this column.
This is a small change, but it removes repeated steps from one of the most common CRM tasks. The spreadsheet-style interaction will also feel familiar to users who regularly work with data in Excel or Google Sheets.
Faster filtering makes it easier for teams to answer straightforward questions, isolate the records that need attention and work from CRM views without creating a new saved view for every temporary requirement.
A sales manager reviewing the deal index could filter directly from the deal stage, owner or close-date column to isolate the part of the pipeline needed for a quick review.

HubSpot now lets users set how long a dashboard retains previously loaded data. Cache durations range from five minutes to seven days, and each report shows when its data was last updated. Users can also refresh the dashboard manually when current figures are required.
Complex dashboards can take time to load, particularly when they contain numerous reports or draw on larger datasets. Not every dashboard needs live data every time it is opened.
Caching allows teams to balance speed with freshness. A frequently viewed operational dashboard can load more quickly, while a manual refresh still provides current information before a board meeting, forecast review or important decision.
A weekly leadership dashboard could retain its data between scheduled reviews, improving everyday load times. The owner can refresh it immediately before the meeting so decisions are still based on the latest available information.
Available across HubSpot products and plans. Caching is off by default. Learn how to customise HubSpot dashboards.
HubSpot Home is being redesigned around a prioritised daily feed and supporting sidebar. The experience brings together items such as upcoming meetings, meeting preparation, priority tasks, email replies, onboarding actions and Prospecting Agent reviews.
The initial experience is weighted towards sales activity, with further customisation and additional agents expected over time.
The problem for many users is not a lack of information; it is knowing what deserves attention next. When tasks and signals are spread across multiple workspaces, important follow-ups can be delayed or missed.
A useful home feed can reduce navigation and make next actions clearer. Its value will depend on the quality of the tasks, ownership and processes feeding it, but it could give users a more focused start to each day.
A sales rep can begin the day with one view of meetings to prepare for, overdue tasks, prospecting activity requiring review and replies that need action, rather than assembling that picture across several areas of HubSpot.
Beta across HubSpot products and plans. Enrolling replaces the previous Global Home experience and also moves users to HubSpot's new visual theme. Learn about HubSpot Home.
When a visitor gives a Customer Agent response a thumbs down, HubSpot can now surface that interaction as a coaching opportunity linked to the full conversation.
Administrators can review what happened and improve the agent by adding a short answer, updating its knowledge sources or refining its guidance.
An overall satisfaction score tells you that something is wrong, but not what needs to change. Linking negative feedback to the relevant conversation turns feedback into a practical optimisation queue.
This is the kind of control businesses need if AI is going to play a dependable role in customer service. Launching an agent is only the starting point; its accuracy and usefulness need to be reviewed and improved continuously.
A service manager could review coaching opportunities each week, group recurring gaps and prioritise improvements to the knowledge base. Over time, that creates a clearer link between customer feedback, content maintenance and agent performance.
Available to eligible Professional and Enterprise customers using Customer Agent; HubSpot Credits may be required for deployed agent use.
The most valuable update will depend on the constraint in your business.
If teams lose time moving between HubSpot and separate AI tools, the Claude, ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot connections deserve attention. If reporting and automation are being undermined by unreliable data, merge rules and property restoration may create more immediate value.
If your Customer Agent is already live, coaching should become part of its ongoing management rather than an occasional review.
The important step is not to activate every new feature. It is to identify where work is slowing down, where visibility is weak or where customers are receiving an inconsistent experience, then test the update most likely to improve it.
